Founded in 2009, Irupé supplies premium organic specialty food ingredients to customers all over the world. We grow, process, and package a selection of seeds, beans, herbs, teas, and citrus peels according to our client specifications.
We work directly and sustainably with a select group of medium-sized growers and smallholder farmers in Paraguay and Argentina. We offer our customers fully traceable products of the highest quality, while striving to achieve a positive impact on the communities and the environment from which we source.
Irupé currently exports to the United States, Europe and Asia. Our products are certified organic according to the EU, NOP and BioSuisse rulings. Conventional quality goods are also available, as well as FLO Fair Trade certification for a select number of items.
We currently source all of our products from medium and smallholder farmers in Paraguay and Argentina. In Paraguay we work in San Pedro and in the province of Guairá while in Argentina we work in the Northern provinces of Salta, Jujuy and Tucumán. Paraguay and Northern Argentina are superbly suited to produce a wide range of specialty products and teas: a diversified subtropical climate stretches over tens of thousands of square kilometers of highly fertile land cultivated by farmers with deep agronomic knowledge and a strong commitment to agricultural.
Our headquarters and cleaning facilities are located in Asuncion, the capital of Paraguay. The company also operates several warehouses in strategic locations around Paraguay. All facilities are certified organic and follow strict food safety requirements.
Irupé is a committed producer of organic goods and we take our responsibility to deliver pesticide-free products very seriously. We test all merchandise before it leaves our warehouse at some of the world’s best laboratories in Hamburg, Germany. Additional testing for the products’ purity and microbiological profile is done in-house and at local laboratories.
Many of our clients are wholesale buyers, distributors, and private label companies principally based in Germany and other EU countries as well as in the US and Asia. We work hard to understand our clients’ needs and maintain a fluid communication with regular meetings at trade shows and always like to welcome our clients at our headquarters in Asunción, Paraguay.
Alexander is a managing director and co-owner of Irupé. He heads up the company’s commercial activity, manages key customer relationships and oversees the company finances. He holds a BA from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and a master’s degree from Columbia University, New York. Prior to Irupé, Alexander worked at a US private equity fund, investing controlling stakes in private companies across Latin America and the Caribbean. An Argentine and German national, Alexander speaks fluent English, Spanish, German, French and Portuguese.
Leandro is a managing director and co-owner of Irupé. He is in charge of the overall strategy and execution of the company’s operations, from the farm to the company’s cleaning facility. Leandro holds a BA from the University of Buenos Aires, and post-graduate certificate in Business from the Universidad Técnica de Buenos Aires (ITBA). Prior to Irupé, Leandro co-founded and ran a company focused on the production and primary extraction of stevia in Argentina and Paraguay. He is the former president of the Argentine Stevia Chamber and is widely recognized as a stevia expert in Latin America.
